Cylinder Head Assembly: Specifications

Cylinder Head Warpage
Maximum warpage:
0.05 mm (0.0020 inch) for cylinder block side
0.10 mm (0.0039 inch) for intake manifold side
0.10 mm (0.0039 inch) for exhaust manifold side





Cylinder Head Set Bolt
Standard length 146.8 to 148.2 mm (5.780 to 5.835 inch)
Maximum length 148.5 mm (5.846 inch)

Cylinder Head Torque and Sequence





Using several steps, uniformly install and tighten the 10 cylinder head bolts and plate washers with a bi-hexagon wrench 10 mm in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.)





Mark the front of the cylinder head bolts with paint.
Retighten the cylinder head bolts 90° in the same sequence as step (b).
Check that the paint mark of each bolt is at a 90° angle to the front.

Camshaft Bearing Torque and Sequence








Examine the front marks and numbers and check that the sequence order is as shown in the illustration. Then tighten the bolts.
For bearing cap No. 2
Torque 13 Nm (133 kgf-cm, 10 ft. lbs.)
Install the bearing cap No. 1.
Torque 23 Nm (235 kgf-cm, 17 ft. lbs.)

Cylinder head Cover No.2
Torque 7.0 Nm (71 kgf-cm, 62 inch lbs.)

Exhaust manifold
Torque 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15 ft. lbs.)

Intake Manifold
Install a new gasket onto the intake manifold.





Install the intake manifold and throttle body with the 2 brackets, 4 bolts and 2 nuts.
Torque 30 Nm (306 kgf-cm, 22 ft. lbs.)

Exhaust Manifold Bolts





Install a new gasket and the exhaust manifold with the 5 nuts.
Torque 37 Nm (377 kgf-cm, 27 ft. lbs.)

Exhaust Manifold Heat Insulator No. 1





Install the exhaust manifold heat insulator with the 4 bolts.
Torque 18 Nm (184 kgf-cm, 13 ft. lbs.)
Connect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.

Install Manifold Stay





Install the manifold stay with 3 bolts.
Torque 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.)
