Air Bag Control Module: Service and Repair

Air Bag Sensor Assy Center:

REPLACEMENT

1. PRECAUTION
Refer to Air Bag Systems; Service Precautions.
2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL

CAUTION: After removing the terminal, wait for at least 90 seconds before starting the operation.

3. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY CENTER
4. REMOVE HEATER CONTROL KNOB
5. REMOVE SWITCH BASE
6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL
7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX
8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER CENTER




9. REMOVE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CENTER
a. Disconnect the holder (with connectors) from the airbag sensor assembly center.
b. Remove the 3 bolts and the airbag sensor assembly center.

10. INSTALL AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CENTER
a. Check that the ignition switch is off.
b. Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected.

CAUTION: After removing the terminal, wait for at least 90 seconds before starting the operation.

c. Temporarily install the airbag sensor assembly center with the 3 bolts.

NOTE:
- If the airbag sensor assembly center has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace it with a new one.
- When installing the airbag sensor assembly center, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.

d. Tighten the 3 bolts to the specified torque.

Torque: 17.5 N.m (179 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)

e. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the airbag sensor assembly center.
f. Connect the holder (with connectors) to the airbag sensor assembly center.
g. Check that the water-proof sheet is properly set.

11. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER CENTER
12. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX
13. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL
14. INSTALL SWITCH BASE
15. INSTALL HEATER CONTROL KNOB
16. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY CENTER
17. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
18. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
