Applicability
Introduction
Some 2006 - 2009 model year Camry and 2007 - 2009 model year Camry HV vehicles may exhibit a condition with multiple warning lights illuminated vehicle not shifting from Park to Drive and other accessories becoming inoperative after the vehicle has cold soaked in sub-freezing (below 14°F [-10°C]) ambient air temperatures. A new relay and wire harness have been made available to improve this condition. Use the following procedure to address this condition.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY
^ This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
^ Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure
CAUTION
Work must be started more than 90 seconds AFTER the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery. The SRS is equipped with a back-up power source. If work is started within 90 seconds from disconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable of the battery, the SRS may deploy.
1. Disconnect cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
2. For vehicles equipped with a driver side knee airbag follow the Repair Manual instructions for the correct removal procedure.
NOTE
For vehicles without a driver side knee airbag, proceed to step 3.

NOTE
After removing the driver side knee airbag, proceed to step 9.
3. Remove the LH front door scuff plate by disengage the 7 claws and 4 clips.
4. Remove the instrument panel under cover sub-assembly No. 1.
A. Disengage the 3 claws and pin.
B. Remove the instrument panel under cover sub-assembly No.1.
5. Remove the cowl side trim sub-assembly LH.
A. Remove the clip.
B. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the cowl side trim sub-assembly LH.
6. Disengage the claw and remove the instrument panel coin box sub-assembly.
7. Remove the instrument panel sub-assembly upper.
A. Disconnect the hood lock control cable.
B. Using the plastic pry tool open the instrument panel sub-assembly upper cover.
C. Remove the bolt and 2 screws.
D. Disengage the 3 clips.
E. Disconnect the connectors and remove the instrument panel sub-assembly upper.
8. Remove the instrument panel insert lower.
A. Remove the 4 bolts.
B. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the instrument panel insert lower.
9. Remove the IG1 Relay from the Junction Block.
10. Install the new IG1 Relay.
A. Install the new IG1 Relay to the end of the sub-harness.
B. Install the other end of the sub-harness to the Junction Block.
C. Route the harness as shown in Figure 9.
D. Using wire ties secure the harness and relay.
NOTICE
Do NOT attach the wire tie to an unprotected wire.
11. For vehicles equipped with a driver side airbag follow the repair manual instructions for the correct assembly procedure.
NOTE
For vehicles without a driver side airbag, follow the service bulletin instructions in reverse order to properly assemble the vehicle.

12. Connect TIS Techstream and clear any stored DTCs.
13. Initialize power systems; refer to the appropriate Service Bulletin.
14. Confirm repair.
