Repair Procedure
1. Using the Diagnostic Tester, clear the stored DTCs.
2. Using the Diagnostic Tester, perform the Automatic EVAP System Check to confirm DTC P0456 is pending and the small leak is still present. If YES, go to step 3.
Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), 2007 model year Solara Repair Manual:
^ Engine/Hybrid System - Engine Control - "2AZ-FE Engine Control System: SFI System: EVAP System"
^ Engine/Hybrid System - Engine Control - "3MZ-FE Engine Control System: SFI System: EVAP System"
NOTE:
If the Automatic EVAP System Check fails to run, perform the following:
^ Turn the ignition key OFF.
^ Turn the Diagnostic Tester OFF.
^ Turn the ignition key ON and the Diagnostic Tester ON, and restart the Automatic EVAP System Check.
If NO codes appear in pending, the problem is intermittent and this TSB does NOT apply.
3. Disconnect the fuel tank vent hose (between the fuel tank and the canister) from the charcoal canister.
Refer to TIS, 2007 model year Solara Repair Manual:
^ Engine/Hybrid System - Emission Control - "2AZ-FE Emission Control: Canister: Removal"
^ Engine/Hybrid System - Emission Control - "3MZ-FE Emission Control: Canister: Removal"
4. Using the Diagnostic Tester, clear the stored DTCs.
5. Seal off the fuel tank vent hose and purge VSV connections at the canister to isolate the canister side.
6. Rerun the Automatic EVAP System Check.
7. If DTC P0456 appears in pending again, remove and replace the charcoal canister assembly.
If there are NO pending codes present, the small leak is located on the fuel tank side of the EVAP system and this TSB does NOT apply. Refer to the Repair Manual for diagnostic information.
8. After the repair is complete, perform the Automatic EVAP System Check again to confirm there are NO pending DTCs and the system is normal.
