Body Structure
Body StructureLightweight and Highly Rigid Body
1. High Strength Sheet Steel
The body is made lightweight and highly rigid through the refinement of the shape and construction of each part, optimized allocation of reinforcements and members, and use of high strength and bake-hardened sheet steel.
2. Body Shell
Coupe Models
Reinforcements are efficiently placed on the rockers, roof side rails, and inside the center pillars to ensure proper body rigidity. As a result, road noise and vibration are reduced and driving stability is ensured.
Convertible Models
The braces, gussets and members are effectively located to ensure high rigidity and to realize excellent stability and controllability.
^ Large section size and thick sheet metal for the rockers realize excellent body rigidity.
^ Cross members are arranged effectively, thus ensuring high torsional rigidity.
^ Reinforcements are effectively located to ensure the strength of the joints between the pillars and the rockers.
^ By arranging braces under the floor, improvement of torsional rigidity of the body is realized.
3. Front and Rear Sub-frames
^ A front sub-frame shaped without an opening is used. The four comers of the sub-frame are bolted to the body as illustrated, in order to ensure a high level of body rigidity. As a result, noise and vibration are reduced.
^ A wide, rear sub-frame is used, in order to provide a high level of rigidity in the same way as the front sub-frame.
