Height Control Sensor Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The headlight leveling ECU assembly receives signals indicating the height of the vehicle from the rear height control sensor sub-assembly RH.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
(a) for 2WD:





(1) Connect 3 dry cell batteries (1.5 V) in series.
(2) Remove the rear height control sensor sub-assembly RH.
(3) Connect a positive (+) lead from the batteries to terminal 3 (SHB) and a negative (-) lead from the batteries to terminal 1 (SHG).
(4) Measure the voltage between terminals 2 (SHRR) and 1 (SHG) while slowly moving the link up and down.

(b) for AWD:





(1) Connect 3 dry cell batteries (1.5 V) in series.
(2) Remove the rear height control sensor sub-assembly RH.
(3) Connect a positive (+) lead from the batteries to terminal 3 (SHB) and a negative (-) lead from the batteries to terminal 1 (SHG).
(4) Measure the voltage between terminals 2 (SHRR) and 1 (SHG) while slowly moving the link up and down.

NG -- REPLACE REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECU - REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH)




(a) Disconnect the A40 headlight leveling ECU assembly connector.
(b) Disconnect the N1 rear height control sensor sub-assembly RH connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
