Applicability
Introduction
Some 2009 - 2011 model year Matrix vehicles may exhibit a condition where the drivers front seat feels loose. A rattle noise may be heard from the seat height adjuster. Use the following instructions to address this condition.
Production Change Information
This TSB applies to 2009 - 2011 vehicles built BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown.

Repair Procedure
1. Adjust the seat height to the upper most position.
2. Inspect the front seat bolts for looseness or rattling.
A. If the front bolts are found to be loose or cause noise proceed to step 3.
B. If NO looseness or noise is confirmed from the front bolts, STOP The source of looseness or noise is coming from a different location. This TSB does NOT apply.
3. Remove the driver's seat assembly from the vehicle.
For front seat removal instructions Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), applicable model and model year Repair Manual:

4. Remove the seat side garnish.
5. Remove the 2 lifter link bolts A and 4 seat reinforcement attachment bolts B.
6. Remove the reinforcement.
7. Install the new reinforcement assembly.
8. Install and finger tighten the 4 bottom seat reinforcement attachment bolts (2 on each side).
9. Apply white lithium grease to the outside surface of the lifter link hole see Figure 4.
10. Install and finger tighten the 2 lifter link shoulder bolts (1 on each side).
11. Torque the 4 lower reinforcement attachment bolts.
Torque: 25 N*m (255 kg*cm, 18 ft*lbf)
12. Torque the 2 lifter link shoulder bolts.
Torque: 25 N*m (255 kg*cm, 18 ft*lbf)
13. Reassemble the seat side garnish in the reverse order as disassembly.
14. Reinstall the seat assembly to the vehicle in the reverse order as removal.
15. Check the function of the height adjuster up and down to ensure proper operation.
