Applicability

Introduction

Some 2012 model year Corolla and Matrix vehicles may exhibit a condition where the SRS MIL may illuminate intermittently with no Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) stored in the SRS system. Replace the center airbag sensor assembly to address this condition. This condition will not affect airbag deployment in a collision.

Repair Procedure

1. Confirm the SRS MIL illuminates intermittently.

2. Check for DTCs using Techstream.

NOTE

If any SRS DTCs are found as current or history refer to the appropriate Repair Manual for diagnosis and repair. This bulletin may not apply. Reconfirm VIN range and SRS MIL after repairing all other conditions.

3. If the SRS MIL is intermittently illuminated and there are no current or history DTCs stored replace the center airbag sensor assembly.

^ 2012 Corolla:

4. Initialize power Systems (windows, moon roof, etc.). Refer to the applicable model and model year Repair Manual.

5. Test drive vehicle and verify the MIL does not illuminate.

6. Connect Techstream and recheck the SRS system for any stored DTCs.
