Some Golf (Canada only) and Jetta III vehicles may have a light (bulb holder and bulb) installed in the rear console ashtray. This light does not work because a wiring harness is not installed.
Early production 1993 Canadian Golfs came equipped with a working rear ashtray light. The deletion of the wiring harness was a running change on later production vehicles.
The rear ashtray light was not originally intended for USA Jetta III vehicles but was inadvertently installed on some cars.
Do not attempt to connect light. No corrective action should be taken.
