Radio Antenna Lead - Insufficient Slack to Remove Radio

Group: 91

Number: 93-06

Date: September 30, 1993

Subject:
Radio antenna lead, Insufficient slack to remove radio

Model(s):
Golf III/Jetta III
1993 m.y.

Condition

Radio and radio connectors cannot be removed due to a trapped/mis-routed antenna lead.

During instrument panel installation the antenna lead may become trapped or mis-routed resulting in inadequate slack. This prevents the radio from pulling out far enough to access the connectors.

Production

Improved routing of antenna lead during assembly.

Service

In most cases there is adequate antenna lead slack to remove the connectors from the radio.

If NO,

CAUTION

DO NOT attempt to gain slack by pulling on the radio or connector plug may be pulled from antenna lead.

- remove ashtray carder

- remove A/C (ventilation) control head, but DO NOT disconnect cables

- reach through opening and disconnect antenna lead from back of radio

- remove radio

- reposition and/or re-route antenna lead to obtain proper slack
