Service Procedure
Step 1.- Control module coding, checking prior to replacement:- Record vehicle odometer reading.
- Connect scan tool, select "Rapid data transfer", switch ignition ON.
- Switch ignition OFF and proceed with instrument cluster replacement.
Step 2.- Control module, coding new instrument cluster:
- Connect scan tool, select "Rapid data transfer", switch ignition ON.
Note:
For US vehicles you must "temporarily" in put a 3 (market version Canada) as the 3rd digit (example; 02343). This will set cluster to accept odometer adaptation in kilometers.
Step 3.- (US vehicles only), converting miles to kilometers:
- Take odometer reading (previously obtained from old instrument cluster) and multiply 1.609 to get kilometers example: 55704 (miles) x l.609 = 89627 (kilometers).
Step 4.- Odometer reading, adaptation:
- Select "Rapid data transfer", switch ignition ON.
Note:
Previous example converted 55704 miles to 89627 kilometers.
This figure must now be rounded up to the next 10 (89627 becomes 89630). Now drop the last 0 (89630 becomes 8963) when properly rounded.
See the examples where adaptation values have been properly rounded.
If the adaptation value is less than 100,000: DO NOT forget to add the appropriate amount of zeroes to the beginning of the adaptation value as shown!
Adaptation value examples:
An odometer reading with over 10,000 (ten thousand) but under 100,000 (one hundred thousand), will have an adaptation value that begins with one zero:
EXAMPLE ODOMETER READINGS
The following steps continue the example adaptation value for 89627 kilometers (this rounds to 08963):
- Input adaptation value using keypad.
The scan tool returns to the start of the program sequence.
^ For Canadian vehicles the procedure is now complete.
^ For US vehicles the instrument cluster must now be returned from kilometers to miles.
Step 5.- (US vehicles) Control module, returning coding from kilometers to miles after adaptation is complete:
- Select "Rapid data transfer", switch ignition ON.
The scan tool returns to start of program sequence.
