Production

Beginning with VIN: 3VWCC21C2XM4O2129 the vehicle key code is stamped into the door lock cylinder.

Service

Replacement keys can be made using the vehicle key code tag or can be duplicated from the original key (if available).

If a replacement key is required and the key code tag or the original key is not available, remove driver's door lock cylinder as follows:

Lock cylinder housing, removing





Carefully remove covering -1- (tape or plug) to expose screw -2-.





- Pull door handle and hold. Loosen screw -1- to stop with socket insert T 10011. (releases lock cylinder housing).

CAUTION!
Loosen screw -1- only, DO NOT remove. If screw is removed, the door lock must be removed to realign.

- Pull lock cylinder housing -2- from door handle bearing bracket at a right angle.





- Obtain key code -arrow-.

- Reinstall lock cylinder -1- as follows:

Lock cylinder housing, installing





- Pull door handle and hold.





- Tighten screw -2- to stop, torque to 8.5 Nm (76 in. lb).

- Check handle and look function to ensure correct operation.

- Reinstall plug/tape -1-.
