Front Seat With Side Airbag, Removing
When removing and or repairing a front seat which is equipped with a side airbag, special tool VAS 5094 must be connected prior to seat removal and or repair.
Install special tool VAS 5094 as follows:
WARNING!
Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap before starting work on electrical system!
Note:
^ Removal and installation procedures may be slightly different depending on vehicle and equipment levels.
^ Obtain correct coding for anti-theft radio.
^ Note customer's radio station pre-sets.
- Slide seat forward.
- Remove cover -1 - and screw -2-.
- Unclip cover strip -3- from inner seat rail (arrow A) and remove toward rear (arrow B).
- Remove cover -4- and screw -5-.
- Unclip cover strip -6- from outer seat rail (arrow C) and remove toward rear (arrow D).
- Slide seat to rear.
- Remove bolts -7-.
WARNING!
Before disconnecting the side airbag connector for the seat, a technician must discharge him/herself electrostatically!
(Briefly touch door striker or vehicle body.)
- Separate side airbag wiring harness connector -i - at seat harness connector station -2-.
- Separate connector -3- for seat heating (if necessary).
- Separate connector for seat adjuster (if necessary).
- Insert connector -4- of special tool VAS 5094 into connector housing -5-.
- Continue with seat removal and or repair as necessary.
