Campaign - Faulty Coolant Hose Sealing O-Ring: Overview
Code: UPApril, 2000
Subject:
2000 Model Volkswagen Jetta Replace Coolant System Sealing Ring
Dear Volkswagen Dealer:
This is to inform you of the initiation of a service action campaign involving some 2000 model year 1.8T, 1.9LTDI and 2.0L Jetta vehicles. The campaign involves the replacement of a coolant hose coupling O-ring.
Problem Description
Volkswagen has found that the sealing ring inside the coupling, connecting the lower radiator hose to the radiator, may not seal properly, causing the potential of coolant seepage.
Vehicle Identification Number Range
The vehicles affected are within the vehicle identification number range as shown.
Please note that the above VINs represent the lowest and highest serial numbers of affected vehicles. Use of the OTIS campaign inquiry system will allow you to determine whether or not a particular vehicle, within the above VIN range, requires the corrective work.
Note:
Volkswagen will not reimburse under this action any duplicate repair work or a repair outside the VIN range.
Pre-Corrected Vehicles
Most vehicles within the above VIN range have already been corrected by the Factory or at Port facilities prior to shipment to dealers. It is, therefore, imperative that you do not start the repair work without first verifying in the OTIS system if the vehicle needs the repair.
Owner Notification Mailing
Volkswagen of America, Inc. will mail first class notification letters to all known owners of affected vehicles on or about April 13, 2000. A copy of the owner letter is enclosed in this circular.
Vehicle Allocation
By separate mail and prior to owner notification, we will furnish you with a computer list containing information for vehicles located within your area of responsibility.
