Service

May be caused by tension screws -1- not making contact with plastic stops -2-.

^ With trunk lid closed, set screw -1- must contact stop -2- with enough preload to prevent rattling.

- Check preload tension by placing a slip of paper over the plastic stop and carefully closing the trunk lid.

- Pull on the paper (paper should not slide out).

If paper slides out, adjust the tensioners as follows:

- Turn set screw -1- out in small increments, until set screw -1- contacts stop -2- with enough preload to prevent the slip of paper from sliding out when trunk lid is closed.

Note:
^ Vehicle must be standing on its wheels when performing adjustments.

^ After completing adjustments, apply corrosion protection to bolts.

May also be caused by plastic mounts -1- not contacting rubber stops on trunk lid.

If plastic mounts -1- do not contact rubber stops on trunk lid, adjust as follows:

- Loosen screw -2-.

- Slide mount -1- up in channel on both sides by dim. -a- = 1-2 mm (0.039 - 0.078 in.).

- Tighten screw -2- (tightening torque = 10 Nm (89 in. lb).

Note:

^ Lid must close without much force and The locked position not have any up or down movement

^ When unlocking, the lid must pop up slightly due to pre4ension.

^ The trunk lid is adjusted correctly, when the mating lines are even and flush all-round when closed.
