Removing
- Separate front exhaust pipes at double clamps and push rear of both Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC)s apart. Refer to Exhaust System.





- Remove heat shield -A- from vehicle underbody.
- Remove cover plate -B- (arrows).
- Disconnect drive shaft from transmission.
- Place container under transmission.
- Drain gear oil from transfer gearbox.





- Remove bolt for rear drive flange (arrow) (use pin to prevent flange from turning).
- Pull out drive flange.





- Remove seal using suitable screwdriver.

Installing
Installation is the reverse of removal, when installing note the following:





- Drive seal in up to stop using 3402.
- Install rear drive flange with socket-head bolt.
- Fill transfer gearbox with gear oil and check oil level.





Tightening torques
Socket-head bolt for rear drive flange: 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
Protective plate to transmission: 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.)
