Flywheel: Service and Repair

Dual Mass Flywheel, Removal and Installation

Special Tools and Workshop Equipment Required:
- Locking Pin -3242-

Removing

NOTE:
This procedure is with Transmission removed.

Caution!
Only turn over the engine at the crankshaft in direction of engine rotation (clockwise).


- Position the crankshaft at the toothed belt sprocket center bolt at the TDC marking in the direction of engine rotation.





- Notch -B- aligns with marking -A-.

- Remove the TDC sealing plugs on the cylinder block.

NOTE:
A TDC bore is located in the crankshaft right behind the sealing plugs.

WARNING!
Do not turn the crankshaft while touching the TDC opening with a finger or personal injury could result.






- Install the -3242- into the hole in the removed sealing plug and tighten it.

- Remove clutch pressure plate.

- Mark dual mass flywheel to crankcase.

- Remove the dual-mass flywheel.

Installing

Installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- Secure with new bolts.
- Install clutch pressure plate.

NOTE:
There is a needle bearing in dual mass flywheel; drive in needle bearing when replacing dual mass flywheel.

- Remove -3242-

- Install the TDC sealing plug into the cylinder block with a new o-ring.

Tightening Specifications:
Dual-mass flywheel to crankshaft 60 Nm + 180°
Replace bolts.
180° corresponds to one half rotation.
