Radiator, removing and installing
Special tools and equipment





^ VAG 1331 Torque wrench (5...50 Nm)





^ Drip tray VAG 1306

Removing
^ Drain coolant.
^ Pull out retaining clip for upper coolant hose and remove coolant hose from quick-release coupling of radiator.
^ Disconnect transmission oil line at transmission oil cooler and collect oil which may leak out in a suitable container.

Note: Observe disposal regulations!





^ Separate lines to oil cooler at unions (arrows) and collect ATF which may leak out in a suitable container.

Note: Observe disposal regulations!

^ Remove radiator upper securing pin and take radiator out forward.

Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order. When installing note the following:
^ Check electrical connections and routing:
^ Electrical Wiring Diagrams, Troubleshooting & Component Locations

Vehicles with manual transmission
^ Top up transmission oil:

Vehicles with automatic transmission
^ Check ATF level

Continuation for all vehicles
^ Top up oil for power assisted steering system:
^ Fill system with coolant.
