A/C - Inoperative/DTC 00819 Stored in Memory

Affected Vehicles

Condition

A/C Inoperative, Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 00819 Stored in DTC Memory

Inoperative A/C with DTC code 00819 "high-pressure sender -G65- open/short circuit to ground" stored in DTC memory.

Technical Background

May be caused by a software error in level SW 0006 of Climate Control Head -E87-.

^ DTC 00819 will be present at each ignition cycle.

^ When DTC 00819 is present, the A/C system is disabled.

Production Solution

Climate Control head with software level 0007 installed on vehicles after VIN: 4E274249 (Emden) or VIN: 4P245686 (Mosel).

^ Connect VAS 5051/5052 Diagnostic tool.

^ Switch ignition ON.

^ From Start-up screen, select "Vehicle Self-Diagnosis".

^ Select vehicle system 08 - "Air conditioning/heating electronics".





^ Verify software level of Climate Control Head -arrow-.

If software level of climate control head is "0007":

^ Further diagnosis is required. Do not complete this Technical Bulletin.

If software level of climate control head is "0006":

^ Return to Vehicle Start-up screen.





^ Replace climate control head with new climate control head, Part No. 3B7 907 044 (SW 0007). See Repair Manual, Group 87, A/C control head -E87- with Climatronic control module -J255-, removing and installing.

Tip:

Replacement climate control head must have a software level 0007 (SW 0007), see sticker on control head (arrow).





^ From Start-up screen, select "Vehicle Self-Diagnosis".

^ Select vehicle system "08 - Air conditioning/heating electronics".

^ Select diagnosis function "007 - Coding".

^ Input "27210" on keypad.

^ Select "Q" button to confirm.

^ Climate control module will be coded to "27210".

^ Select diagnosis function "004 - DTC memory content (004.01)".

^ Record any faults that are present.

^ Select backward arrow to return to Select diagnosis function screen.

^ Select diagnosis function "004 - DTC memory content (004.10)".

^ Recheck for A/C system DTCs using "004 - DTC memory content (004.01)".

If A/C system DTCs are present:

^ Further diagnosis should be performed. Refer to "Guided Fault Finding" in the VAS 5051/5052.

If A/C system DTCs are not present:





^ Select diagnosis function "005 Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM)".

^ Use forward arrow to advance through test.

If "Final Control" tests fail:

^ Further diagnosis should be performed.

If "Final Control" tests complete:

^ A/C system is operating properly.
