Subject:
Heater, Customer States Heater Output Seems Insufficient During Very Cold Temperatures

Condition

Customer states heater output seems insufficient during colder temperatures.

Condition occurs when the Customer selects "Econ" mode during very cold conditions.

Econ, normal operation

- When the Customer selects "Econ" mode:

^ Fuel economy is increased by switching the A/C compressor OFF.

^ The Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- is also switched OFF.

This applies to both vehicles with Climatic (manual) and Climatronic.

Service

Operation is normal and NO repairs should be attempted.

- Explain to the Customer that the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- is switched OFF whenever the A/C System is placed in "Econ" Mode and therefore should not be used during colder temperatures.
