Condition

Seat, Easy Entry Feature Inoperative, 2 Door Models ONLY

After operating front seat easy entry feature, the following conditions may occur:

1. Seat does not return to its original position.

2. Seat does not move forward after folding backrest

3. Seat rattles when moving back.

Technical Background

Incorrect operation of seat easy entry feature mechanical components.

1. Sliding piece in seat rail is missing or broken.

2. Bowden cable is not correctly adjusted on seat rail.

3. Plate for Bowden cable is broken on seat frame.

Production Solution

Inspection to ensure sliding piece is operating properly.

Optimize Bowden cable adjusting process.

Improvement/reinforcement of the plate for Bowden cable.

Lubrication of Easy Entry mechanical components.

Service

Inspect and or replace easy entry feature mechanical components using the following list as a diagnostic guide:

^ Adjust Bowden cable(s).

^ Replace Bowden cable plate(s).

^ As necessary, replace Bowden cable(s).

^ As necessary, replace sliding pieces.

Note:
DO NOT replace seat frame(s) for this condition. Seat frame(s) that are replaced for this condition may be debited.

Review correct operating instruction with customer:

^ Unlock backrest

^ Fold backrest forward to attachment

^ Push seat forward

^ Push back seat to stop

Unlock backrest attachment and fold back





Inspect sliding piece, replacing as necessary. See Repair Manual Group 72 in Elsa Web.





Adjust bowden cable on seat rail using knurled wheel (arrow) until seat rail unlocks correctly when folding backrest forward, see Repair Manual Group 72 in ElsaWeb.





Replace Bowden cable plate (1), Part No. 1K3 881 132 C/ 1K3 881 132 B).
If necessary, replace mounting (2) for Bowden cable plate, also the Bowden cable (3), Part No. 1K3 881 341 see Repair Manual Group 72 in ElsaWeb.

Tip:
It is not necessary to disassemble seat upon removal to access the Bowden cable or mounting hardware.

Removing seat side trim will allow enough access to service cable properly.





Additionally lubricate the following areas using silicon spray (D 007 000 A2)

^ Unlocking pins in the seat rail (see figure 4)

^ Unlocking rocker (Item # 1 in figure 5)

^ Unlocking Bowden cable around in the contact area to the plate (item # 2 in figure 5)

^ Contact points of the plastic slides (item # 3 in Figures 5, 6 and 7).
