Condition
HVAC Blower Fan Speed Can Not Be Regulated
HVAC blower operates only on high speed setting. Fan speed setting cannot be regulated.
Note:
The condition as described does not compromise visibility.
Technical Background
Heavy snow and ice accumulated through the cabin air intake cowl may cause the HVAC blower to become obstructed and cause the blower speed to operate only on high speed (unregulated) setting.
Production Solution
No production change required.
Service
^ Set wipers to service/winter position.
Tip:
^ Wiper can be moved to this position by switching ignition ON then OFF. Within 10 seconds of switching ignition OFF, press down on windshield wiper switch.
EXAMPLE:
Location of plenum chamber cover with wipers set to service/winter position.
^ Open hood and clear any debris.
^ Position diffuser grille Part No. 1KM 819 415 9B9 over the top of plenum chamber cover.
^ Insert longer tabs of grille into plenum chamber cover (toward windshield).
^ Insert short tabs (toward raised hood).
Tip:
To ease installation of diffuser grille part No. 1KM 819 415 9B9:
A flat tipped screwdriver may be used to flex the center between the long and short tabs when installing.
After completion of installation:
^ Return wipers back to their resting position by switching ignition ON and pressing down on windshield wiper switch.
