XM Satellite Radio Equipped Vehicles, Satellite Radios Have Not Been Pre-activated

Condition

A number of vehicles equipped with XM Satellite radio have not been pre-activated.

So the XM satellite radio will automatically be activated PRIOR to customer delivery, the Electronic Serial Number (ESN) MUST be captured during the PDI & transmiffed to Volkswagen of America, Inc..

Production

Affects vehicles produced prior to VIN:

3VWDG71K75M609643 and/or Vehicles with a production date before 2/22/05 (see sticker on B-Pillar for production date).

Service

For complete list of affected VINs delivered to your Dealership:

- Sign on to website.

- Select the "Service" tab, then select the "My Dealership Reports & Publications" tab.

- Download the Microsoft(R) Excel file for affected VINs shipped to your dealership.

Capture and transmit the 8-digit (ESN) for the XM-equipped Satellite units to Volkswagen of America, Inc. as follows:

Tip:

It is important that VINs & ESNs be transmitted as the cars arrive at your dealership and are PDI'd.

Waiting to transmit a complete VIN / ESN list until after all affected VINs have been gathered will result in delayed new vehicle deliveries or cars being delivered to customers without a functioning satellite radio. Either way this will have a negative impact on the customer.

ESN, Location:





- Locate Satellite Radio R146 (in luggage compartment underneath rear parcel shelf)

- Locate ESN listed as "XM ID" under Bar-code at -arrow-.





^ ESN -arrow- (example only, numbers for each unit will differ).

- Update the downloaded Excel file by inputting the 8-digit ESN next to corresponding VIN, save file, insert into E-mail.

- E-mail list to website as vehicles arrive (IMPORTANT! see Tip above).

^ Once the ESN is received by VwoA, the unit will be activated for up to 1 year while in Dealer inventory (in demonstration mode).
