Condition
Technical Background
Windshield washer fluid hose and harness may be pinched by hood hinge due to an incorrect length, taping, and routing of washer fluid hose.
Production Solution
Not applicable.
Service
^ Remove tape from lower end of damaged hose.
^ Remove tape from upper end of damaged hose and plastic guide.
Any section of damaged hose -arrow- should be measured and removed.
When damaged hose section is longer than 3/4 inch, hose must be added by taking slack out of hose -arrow- above hinge going to nozzle.
Extended hose length should be equal to measured amount of damaged hose previously removed, minus the of an inch section of hose for the adapter to be installed.
When damaged hose section is shorter than 3/4 inch, a total of 3/4 inch must be cut, preferable on the lower end of the damaged hose to compensate for adapter to be installed.
^ Trim and remove damaged sections of hose.
^ Carefully warm end of upper hose -1- (with special tool VAS 1978/14).
^ Insert repair adapter 1J0955875R -2- into hose -1- in arrow -A- direction.
^ Carefully warm end of lower hose -4-.
^ Insert repair adapter 1J0955875P -3- into hose -4- in arrow -B- direction.
^ Trim shrink tubing sections so that corrugated hose is covered a length of 5/8 of an inch, see distance -X-.
^ Slide shrink tubing over corrugated hoses, attach adapters together and secure repair with shrink tubing.
^ Reinstall hose and heated nozzles harness (if equipped) in plastic guide on hood hinge.
Tip:
To allow proper routing of hose when closing hood, a minimum distance of 3/4 inch, see distance -Y- between plastic guide and shrink tubing of adapter must be ensured.
^ Re-tape hose and heated nozzles harness (if equipped) to guide.
^ Verify proper closing of hood.
