Fuel Tank Lid Does Not Close, Unlock Motor -V155- Does Not Return Properly

Supersedes T.B. Group 55, Number 05-01 dated April 14, 2005 due to additional Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) and Warranty Table Information change.

Condition

Fuel Tank lid does not close.

May be caused by a fuel tank lid unlock motor that does not return to it's closing position.

Service

- Remove fuel tank lid unlock motor (see Repair Manual Body Exterior Group 55 - Hood, Lids, Fuel lank Lid Unlock Motor -V155- removing and installing).





- Separate release rod from motor -V155-.





- Trim a 4 mm long section of hose from Part No. 1J0 877 231 A.

Tip:

Part No. 1J0 877 231 A will repair approx. 200 vehicles and is considered shop supplies.

Part numbers listed in this bulletin are for reference only Always check with your Parts Dept. for the latest parts information.





- Place the 4 mm hose section onto the motor piston (arrow) as shown.





- Ensure position of repair (arrow) and Install release rod back into position on motor.

- Install release motor and check operation (see Repair Manual Body Exterior Group 55

- Hood, Lids, Fuel Tank Lid Unlock Motor removing and installing).





When procedure applies to vehicles within the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, use the table.
