Sealing Flange and Flywheel Assembly Overview





1 Seal

Do not additionally oil or grease sealing lip of oil seal

Before installing, remove oil remains from crankshaft journal with a clean cloth

Seal for crankshaft - ribbed belt side, replacing => [ Crankshaft Seal, Belt Pulley Side ] Service and Repair.

2 Sealing flange, belt pulley side

Must be located on dowel sleeves

Removing and installing => [ Sealing Flange, Belt Pulley Side ] Sealing Flange, Belt Pulley Side.

Install with silicone sealant (D 176 404 A2 )=> [ Sealing Flange, Belt Pulley Side ] Sealing Flange, Belt Pulley Side.

3 Cylinder block

Removing and installing crankshaft => [ Crankshaft Seal, Belt Pulley Side ] Service and Repair.

Piston and connecting rod, disassembling and assembling => [ Piston and Connecting Rod Assembly Overview ] Service and Repair.

4 Flywheel

Different construction style for engine code BEW

To remove and install flywheel, secure using flywheel retainer ( 3067)

5 60 Nm + 90° (1/4 turn) additional turn

Replace

6 Intermediate plate

Must be located on dowel sleeves

Do not damage or bend when doing assembly work

7 15 Nm

8 Sealing flange, transmission side

With seal

Only replaced as complete unit

For removing and installing the engine or transmission, flywheel and oil pan

Do not additionally oil or grease sealing lip of oil seal

Before installing, remove oil remains from crankshaft journal with a clean cloth

To install, use provided support sleeve

Supporting sleeve may only be removed after the sealing flange has been slid onto the crankshaft pin.
