REQUIRED VEHICLE UPDATE TECHNICAL BULLETIN (RVUTB) PERFORM ON ALL APPLICABLE VEHICLES WITHIN THE LIMITED NEW VEHICLE WARRANTY

RVU - 17D1/O7 Crankcase Breather Valve Replacement

This RVU has been proactively released to prevent and correct the following condition from occurring in the vehicle:

MIL ON, and one or more of following DTCs are stored in ECM data memory:

DTC Description

P1297 Fuel trim bank 1, system too lean at idle speed

P2187 Fuel trim bank 1, system too lean at idle speed

P2279 Intake air system leak

This Required Vehicle Update (RVU) is in effect for 12 months from date of publication. After that date, this RVU will expire and no longer be in effect.

Vehicle must meet all of the following criteria:

^ Procedure is valid only for vehicles that show this RVUTB code in the ElsaWeb Campaign/Action Information screen on the day of repair.

^ Vehicle must be within the Limited New Vehicle Warranty.

^ Procedure must be performed within the allotted time frame stated in this Technical Service Bulletin.

^ Procedure must be performed on applicable vehicles in dealer inventory prior to sale.

Technical Background

The conditions described may be caused by a malfunction of the crankcase ventilation system pressure regulating valve.

Production Solution

Improved crankcase ventilation system pressure regulating valve and hose.

Service





Remove and Inspect crankcase ventilation system pressure regulating valve (1) and hose (2) for part number.

1. If valve part number is not 06F 129 101 E, and hose part number is not 06F 103 221 H:

Replace the crankcase ventilation system pressure regulating valve and hose (Figure 1, Points 1 & 2). Tighten the bolts holding the pressure regulating valve to 4 Nm (35 in. lbs.).

2. If valve part number is 06F 129 101 E and hose is not 06F 103 221 H:

Replace the hose only (Figure 1, Point 2 only). Tighten the bolts holding the pressure regulating valve to 4 Nm (35 in. lbs.).

3. If valve part number is not 06F 129 101 E, and hose is 06F 103 221 H:

Replace the valve only (Figure 1, Point 1 only). Tighten the bolts holding the pressure regulating valve to 4 Nm (35 in. lbs.).

4. If valve part number is 06F 129 101 E, and hose part number is 06F 103 221 H, no part replacement is necessary.

Reassemble parts and tighten the bolts holding the pressure regulating valve to 4 Nm (35 in. lbs.).

Immediately upon completion of the repair work, enter the correct code listed below. Claims will only be paid for vehicles that show this RVUTB open in ElsaWeb on the day of repair. To help ensure prompt and proper payment, attach the screen print to the repair order.

Additional Actions
Some of the affected vehicles may be involved in additional actions, recalls or service campaigns. Please check ElsaWeb so that any additional required work can be done simultaneously.

Required Customer Notification
