Instrument Cluster, Adapting

Work procedure "replace instrument cluster" contains the following scope of work:

If a new instrument cluster is installed in the vehicle, the Instrument Cluster Control Module (J285) must be adjusted to the various equipment characteristics and corresponding version for that country.

To adapt the integrated Anti-Theft Immobilizer Control Module (J362) to the Engine Control Module (ECM) (J623), data from the ECM must be saved in the replacement instrument cluster.

Also, an adaptation of all vehicle keys must be performed after installing a new instrument cluster.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Vehicle tester (VAS 5051A)

Diagnostic cable (VAS 5051/6A)

Procedure

- Connect the (VAS 5051A).

- Select "Guided Fault Finding" on the (VAS 5051A).

- Using the "Go To" button, select "Functions/Component selection" and the following menu options in sequence:
