Instrument Cluster, Adapting
Work procedure "replace instrument cluster" contains the following scope of work:
• If a new instrument cluster is installed in the vehicle, the Instrument Cluster Control Module (J285) must be adjusted to the various equipment characteristics and corresponding version for that country.
• To adapt the integrated Anti-Theft Immobilizer Control Module (J362) to the Engine Control Module (ECM) (J623), data from the ECM must be saved in the replacement instrument cluster.
• Also, an adaptation of all vehicle keys must be performed after installing a new instrument cluster.
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Vehicle tester (VAS 5051A)
• Diagnostic cable (VAS 5051/6A)
Procedure
- Connect the (VAS 5051A).
- Select "Guided Fault Finding" on the (VAS 5051A).
- Using the "Go To" button, select "Functions/Component selection" and the following menu options in sequence:
• Body
• Electrical Equipment
• 01 - On Board Diagnostic (OBD) Capable Systems
• Instrument Cluster
• Instrument Cluster Functions
• Instrument Cluster, Adaptation/Replacing
