Vehicle Information

Condition

Seat, Recliner Inoperative, Vehicles without Memory Seats
Left front lumber/seat back recliner inoperative.

Technical Background

The driver side seatback recliner may stop operating or only move in one direction.

The lumbar/seat back recliner wiring harness, under the driver seat, may have come in contact (chaffed) with seat frame. Wiring harness damage may damage the circuit board in the seat adjustment switch.

If the seat back recliner becomes inoperative, inspect the lumbar/seat recliner wiring harness for damage.

Note:
Normal diagnostic process must be followed to verify proper operation of the seat reclining motor circuit. If the entire seat is inoperative, test fuses, wiring, and power at the seat switch. If the other seat motors are functional, the problem for the seat recliner function is in the switch, wiring to the reclining seat motor or the seat motor.

Regardless if lumbar/seatback recliner wiring harness is damaged or not, the protective edging Part No. 3C0971882 still needs to be installed on seat frame.

Production Solution

Harness protective edging added in production process, CW41/2009
