Check for voltage at the auxiliary air valve
Measure across the two pins.

No voltage: check the earth/ground lead. Measure across the yellow lead (1975) or the blue lead (1976-), and earth/ground.

Check resistance of auxiliary air valve
Use an ohmmeter to measure the resistance across the auxiliary air valve plug.

Resitance should be 40-60 ohm.

Correct: indicates poor plug contact.

Incorrect: replace the auxiliary air valve.
