Dashboard / Instrument Panel: Service and Repair

1. Disable airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove soundproofing from both sides of center console.
4. Remove side panels, then tilt center console slightly, Fig. 1.
5. Remove glove box and moulding below center vents.
6. Remove steering wheel casing.
7. On fuel injected models, remove choke cable, if equipped.
8. On all models, remove light switch and adjustment knob.
9. Remove cover strips for light switch and auxiliary gauges.
10. Disconnect speedometer drive cable and remove.
11. Removed combined instrument panel and upper panel.
12. Remove center panel vents and ducts.
13. Remove instrument panel frame, then disconnect windshield wiper electrical connector.
14. Remove defroster vents, then disconnect glove box electrical connector.
15. Remove dash panel retaining screws, then carefully lift out dash panel from vehicle.
16. Reverse procedure to install.
