REGINA #18 Injection pulses missing



Conditions for fault message:
If the voltage has not been below 9.0 Volts for a certain period of time, approx 250 ms, the fault message is stored. Fault message is displayed if the fuel shut-oft requirement has not been met, i.e. engine speed has exceeded 2200 rpm and subsequently not dropped below 1100 rpm, while idle contact is still on.

Causes of fault:
Auxiliary relay defective.
No voltage supply to injectors.
Breakage or short circuit to ground in the wire between Regina #8 and injectors.
Intermittent interference with engine ground.

Fault symptoms:
Engine does not start.
For intermittent fault, the engine dies or slows down.

Disconnection of Volvo System Tester
- Disconnect the System Tester according to P1. P1. Connection of Volvo System Tester
^ Continue with Connection of measurement box PF2.

Connection of measurement box
Connect the measurement box to Regina and check the chassis connections according to N1-N2. N. Measurement Box, Signal Description
Check engine grounding extra carefully.
^ Continue with Checking of voltage supply PF3.

Checking the voltage supply
- Ignition on.
Connect a voltmeter between #18 and #17 (power ground).
The voltmeter should show battery voltage.

If the value differs:
^ Checking the auxiliary relay PF4.




Connect a voltmeter between #18 and #35 (voltage).
- Operate the starter motor.
The voltmeter should show 300-500 mV.

If both values are OK:
Intermittent fault.
^ Check the connections between #18 and the injectors for loose connection according to CD. CD. Checking of Wiring

If the value differs:
^ Test with a new control unit.

Checking the auxiliary relay
- Test with a new auxiliary relay and repeat the measurement.

If the value is OK:
^ The auxiliary relay was defective

If the value still differs:
^ Check the wires between #18 and the auxiliary relay via the injectors for breakage according to CD. CD. Checking of Wiring
