PN. Rex #16
PN. REX #16
REX #16 Trigsignal to Rex power stage missing
Conditions for fault message:
Measurement of the trig signal to the power stage is carried out at 200 ms. If voltage has not exceeded 2.5 Volts during this period, the fault message is stored.
Causes of fault:
Breakage or short circuit to ground in the wire from #16 to the power stage.
Fault symptoms:
Engine does not start
For intermittent faults, the engine dies or bucks a lot.
PN1
Disconnection of the Volvo System Tester
Disconnect the System Tester according to P1. P1. Connection of Volvo System Tester
^ Continue with Connection of measurement box PN2.
PN2
Connection of measurement box
Connect the measurement box to Rex-1 and check the chassis connection according to N3-N4. N. Measurement Box, Signal Description
^ Continue with Checking of resistance to ground PN3.
PN3
Checking of resistance to ground
- Ignition off.
Connect an ohmmeter between #16 and #20 (ground).
The ohmmeter should show infinite resistance.
If the value is OK:
^ Checking the trig signal at the control unit PN4.
If the value differs:
^ Check the wire between #16 and power stage for short circuit to ground according to CD. CD. Checking of Wiring
PN4
Checking the trig signal at the control unit
Connect the control unit to the measurement box.
- Insert fuse no.1.
- Operate the starter motor.
Connect a voltmeter between #16 and #20.
The voltmeter should show at least 250 mV.
If the value is correct:
^ Checking the trig signal on the power stage PN5.
If the value differs:
^ Test with a new control unit.
PN5
Checking the trig signal on the power stage
Connect a voltmeter between A and B (2-pole) on the power stage.
- Operate the starter motor.
The voltmeter should show at least 250 mV.
If the value Is correct:
^ Test with a new power stage / ignition coil.
If the value differs:
^ Check the wire between #16 and the power stage for breakage according to CD. CD. Checking of Wiring
