Intermittent fault
If the symptom occurs intermittently so that the engine functions normally at the time of the test, the Volvo System Tester can offer the required assistance.

Mechanical overview
- Check the camshaft setting relative to the crankshaft.
- Check the air intake and air filter for signs of clogging.

If the camshaft setting, air intake and air filter are all OK:
^ Cars with automatic gearbox:

^ Manual gearbox:
Connection of measurement box KB3.

Volvo System Tester
- Connect the System Tester to Rex-I according to P. Connection of the Volvo System Tester. P. Running Test Volvo System Tester
- Test using the Running test facility.
- Drive the car at over 1500 rpm for 5 minutes.

If fault message Rex #10, Rex #17 or Rex #23 Is received:
^ Check the carrier plate for out-of-roundness.

For ether fault messages:
^ Deal with the message according to PA. Fault message table for the Running test PA. Fault Message Table For Running Test

No fault message:
^ Connection of measurement box KB3
