Procedure

Commence by recording any fault codes stored in the fuel and ignition system diagnostic memory.

Remove/disconnect:
- battery ground lead
- front screw in sill protector (1)
- cover over fuel system control unit (2)





Important!
The control unit power supply must be disconnected when removing or installing the unit, otherwise the unit may suffer damage.


Disconnect 35-pin connector from control unit.

Cut tie securing rubber protector and fold aside protector.

Remove protective cover from connector.





Modify 35-pin connector as follows:

Remove grey/black (GR-SB) lead from position 32 in connector.

Cut lead 1.75" from connector entry as illustrated.





Remove green-yellow (GN-Y) lead from position 15 in connector.

Cut lead 3.25" from connector entry as illustrated.

Remove green-red (GN-R) lead from position 14 in connector and insert in position 15


Caution!
Remove lead carefully to avoid damage to terminal.





To insulate ends of the gray/black and green/yellow leads, crimp splicing sleeves, P/N 956958-3, onto uncut ends.
Note:
Do not strip ends and ensure that sleeves are securely crimped in position. Replace protective cover over connector. Bend rubber protector back into position and secure with new cable tie.





Install new fuel system control unit as follows:

- P/N 6842882-0

Reconnect connector to new control unit.





Reinstall:

- cover over control unit (2)
- screw in sill protector (1)
