INFORMATION


Refer to Service Manager Bulletin 00-139 for further information regarding chassis limitations. Check vehicle history to determine if the subject vehicle has already received a new control unit. New control units, P/N 3515784-1, are identified with S/N VC010505 and up.

INSTRUCTIONS

Removal

1. Open the main fuse panel and remove fuse # 24. This will de-energize the transmission control unit.


2. Remove the driver's side footwell soundproofing pad.


3. Remove the knee bolster.


4. Remove the transmission control unit located on the left-hand kick panel above the hood - release lever.


5. Depress the connector lock tabs and carefully disconnect the control unit from the cable assemblies.


6. Check the condition of the connectors and the cables.

Diode:
If the vehicle has a diode installed in the wiring harness, it is not necessary to remove it. If the vehicle DOES NOT have a diode installed, it is NOT necessary to install one.


Installation

1. Connect the control unit cable assemblies to a new control unit.





Make sure that connector lock tabs (arrows) seat properly.


2. Mount the new control unit in the original location.

Check that the installation is secure and that the cables do not chafe against any sharp edges.


3. Reinstall the knee bolster.


4. Reinstall the soundproofing pad.


5. Reinstall fuse # 24.


6. Erase any fault codes (socket A, position 1).


Test Driving

Perform test drive after completing any additional maintenance services.

Test-drive the vehicle using all three transmission mode selector programs.
