1-4-4 Brake Discs Overheated

Conditions for DTC





In cars with TRACS, the control module records how much the brakes are used and calculates the temperature of the front wheel brake discs. If the estimated temperature exceeds 450 °C (842 °F), it posts DTC 1-4-4.

Substitute value

Warning indicator comes on and TRACS cuts out when the DTC is posted. Warning indicator goes out and TRACS returns to normal once the estimated temperature falls below 300 °C (572 °F).

Sources of fault

The brakes have been used so much that the brake discs have overheated.
