Engine speed (RPM) signal interference
Electrical interference between the RPM sensor wiring and the secondary ignition system may result in a momentary intermittent "jerking" sensation while driving. This may be accompanied by a flashing "CHECK ENGINE" malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and storage of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 2-1-4 in the ignition system.
From chassis number 068446 on, a plastic tie strap is used to secure the RPM sensor wiring away from the secondary ignition system.
Should this condition exist on vehicles before chassis number 068446, secure RPM sensor wiring harness to camshaft position (CMP) sensor connector with plastic tie strap, p/n 948211-8.
