Fuel Injector: Service and Repair

INJECTOR REPLACEMENT





Release of Fuel System Pressure
^ Drain fuel system pressure. See: SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS / DRAINAGE OF FUEL SYSTEM.

Injector Removal
^ Remove:
- Fuel distribution manifold cover.
- Injector connectors. Turn injectors 90°.
- Fuel line clips.

^ Mount clamps 999 5465 on injectors to hold them is position when fuel distribution manifold is removed.





^ Remove / Disconnect:
- Vacuum hose from pressure regulator.
- Fuel distribution manifold retaining bolts.
- Lift off manifold complete with injectors.

NOTE: Recover all rubber damping elements mounted on intake manifold.





^ Remove clamp from injector to be replaced.
^ Place rag under injector to soak up fuel spillage.
^ Replace injector. Lubricate 0-ring of new component with Vaseline.

Injector Installation





^ Install / Reconnect:
- All rubber damping elements on intake manifold.
- Fuel distribution manifold on intake manifold.
- Fuel distribution manifold retaining bolts.

Tighten bolts to 10 Nm (7.5 ft lb) + 75°.

^ Fuel line clips.
^ Remove injector clamps and turn injectors to correct position.
^ Injector connectors. Check that each connector is fitted with rubber seal.
^ Covers over fuel distribution manifold and throttle pulley.
