Type 1035 and 1045 Multilink Type Rear Axle

General
The axle is attached to the body by a member consisting of an upper and a lower section.

The upper links (1 ) extend from the upper member. The lower links (2) and the two track rods (3) are mounted between the lower section of the axle member and the wheel bearing housings. The wheel bearing housings and body are connected by the support arms (4).

Final Drive

In the type 1035 and 1045 units everything inside the final drive housing is basically the same as in the earlier drives. Both types are available with reduction ratios of 3.54:1, 3.73:1 and 3.91:1.

The complete new design of the drive shafts (axles) is the most significant innovation. The shafts are in two sections, an inner (1) and an outer (2). The inner shaft is locked in the final drive by a snap action arrangement.and is connected to the outer shaft by a bolted joint at the inner universal joint (3). The oil capacities of the 1035 and 1045 drives are 1.4 and 1.3 liters respectively.

Outer Shafts

The outer shaft (1) and outer universal joint (2) are supported in bearings in the wheel bearing housing.

the wheel bearing (4) is a two row ball bearing.

Mounted on the outer shaft, the hub (5) carries the brake disc (6) and wheel.

Pick-Up For Speedometer And ABS System

The pick-up is mounted in the final drive inspection cover. The position of the device is fixed and cannot be adjusted.

The toothed wheel is a pressed fit on the [1][2]differential housing. The wheel has 96 teeth in earlier drives and 48 teeth in later types.

New Inspection Cover And Filter
A new inspection cover with filter has been introduced on 1991 models. Due to this, oil changing has now been eliminated as a service measure.
