Checking Outlet Valves
- Ignition off.
- Connect test box and check ground points as per JA. Connecting test box. Connecting Test Box [JA]
- Disconnect control module.
- Jack car up so all wheels are free to rotate. Connect a lead temporarily across #1 and #34 on test box.
Connect other temporary leads between #2, #21, #36 and #1 on test box.
- Push brake pedal down hard 3-4 times to remove any vacuum in the power brake booster overload relay.
- Push brake pedal down hard as if braking hard. Brake pedal should feel stiff and pedal should not travel more than 40 mm (1.57").
- Check that none of the wheels can turn.
NOTE: When the ignition is switched on, this opens the outlet valves. To prevent valves overheating, do not switch ignition on for more than 20 seconds. Wait at least 30 seconds before testing again.
- Ignition on.
- You should now be able to push the brake pedal right down.
- Check that all four wheels can turn freely, especially the wheel for which the DTC was posted.
- Ignition off.
- Remove the temporary connecting leads.
If working OK:
- Check leads and terminals EA11. Checking Leads and Terminals [EA11]
If not working OK:
- Try another hydraulic unit as per NE. 'Hydraulic unit, replacement'. Service and Repair
