DTC 1-3-3 Tank Signal To Trip Computer Short To Supply

Fuel Level/Gauge:

Conditions for DTC:
- Output signal reaches maximum permitted value, just under 5 V.

Sources of fault:
- Signal lead short-circuited to supply, between approx. 5 V and battery voltage.

Symptoms:
- In cars with trip computer, incorrect value for 'Range left until tank empty'.

Checking 'Range Left Until Tank Empty' Function In Trip Computer:





- Ignition on.
- Check whether the value for 'Range left until tank empty' shown on the trip computer seems reasonable.

If value seems reasonable or there is no trip computer:
- Intermittent short-circuit to supply in signal lead between instrument panel terminal # D5 and trip computer terminal # D5.
- Check lead for intermittent short-circuit to supply. Checking Cables and Terminals

If value is not reasonable:
- Short-circuit to supply in connector between instrument panel terminal # D5 and trip computer terminal # D5. Check contacts for short-circuit to supply. Checking Cables and Terminals
