PF. Regina #18
PF. Regina #18
REGINA #18 Injection pulses missing
Conditions for fault message:
If the voltage has not been below 9.0 Volts for a certain period of time, approx 250 ms, the fault message is stored. Fault message is displayed if the fuel shut-oft requirement has not been met, i.e. engine speed has exceeded 2200 rpm and subsequently not dropped below 1100 rpm, while idle contact is still on.
Causes of fault:
Auxiliary relay defective.
No voltage supply to injectors.
Breakage or short circuit to ground in the wire between Regina #8 and injectors.
Intermittent interference with engine ground.
Fault symptoms:
Engine does not start.
For intermittent fault, the engine dies or slows down.
PF1
Disconnection of Volvo System Tester
- Disconnect the System Tester according to P1. P1. Connection of Volvo System Tester
^ Continue with Connection of measurement box PF2.
PF2
Connection of measurement box
Connect the measurement box to Regina and check the chassis connections according to N1-N2. N. Measurement Box, Signal Description
Check engine grounding extra carefully.
^ Continue with Checking of voltage supply PF3.
PF3
Checking the voltage supply
- Ignition on.
Connect a voltmeter between #18 and #17 (power ground).
The voltmeter should show battery voltage.
If the value differs:
^ Checking the auxiliary relay PF4.
Connect a voltmeter between #18 and #35 (voltage).
- Operate the starter motor.
The voltmeter should show 300-500 mV.
If both values are OK:
Intermittent fault.
^ Check the connections between #18 and the injectors for loose connection according to CD. CD. Checking of Wiring
If the value differs:
^ Test with a new control unit.
PF4
Checking the auxiliary relay
- Test with a new auxiliary relay and repeat the measurement.
If the value is OK:
^ The auxiliary relay was defective
If the value still differs:
^ Check the wires between #18 and the auxiliary relay via the injectors for breakage according to CD. CD. Checking of Wiring
