Fuel Injector: Service and Repair

FUEL INJECTOR REPLACEMENT





Preparations
^ Switch Ignition OFF.
^ Fuel Pumps should be turned OFF.

Vehicles With Pressure Regulator Mounted on Fuel Distribution Manifold
^ Proceed to Removal section below.

Vehicles With Pressure Regulator Mounted on Intake Manifold
^ Drain fuel system.
^ Proceed to Removal section below.

Removal
^ Remove injector covers.
^ Slack off connections from injector.





Change Injectors
^ Remove manifold retaining screws.
^ Remove screws holding locking plate to Injectors.
^ Lift off fuel distribution manifold complete with Injectors.
^ Place shop rag under injector to be changed to soak up any fuel spillage.
^ Change injector.





Installation
^ Grease all Injector O-rings with petroleum jelly.
^ Fit locking plate.
^ Fit fuel rail to intake manifold.
^ Fit new screws and tighten.
^ Fit connections to Injectors.
^ Fit Injector covers.
