The VDO combined instrument panel has a built-in microprocessor with diagnostic functions, which continuously monitors itself and its input and output signals. The diagnostic function can be used to read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), read input and output signals, test the instrument gauges, read control module identification and reset the service reminder indicator (SRI).
