Center Mounted Brake Lamp: Service and Repair




High Level Brake Light

Bulb and light casing, replacement, 4-door models.







- Press in spring clips on sides and remove cover.
- Press in catch on underneath and remove light casing.
- Press in catch on side and remove reflector.
- Replace bulb.
- Replace light casing and anything else if necessary.
- Reassemble in reverse order.
Test.

Brake light, spoiler-mounted, 4-door models.







Bulb and lens, replacement

- Open trunk halfway.

To avoid damaging paint, protect the edge of the trunk lid in front of the light with masking tape.

- Undo the three screws using a TORX 20 screwdriver
- Remove lens and replace bulb.
- Check that all six lights work.
- Check that gasket is positioned correctly in its groove and undamaged.
- When assembling, keep the three screws pressed in to allow you to put the lens in its right place. Check that gasket is sitting correctly. Tighten screws (not too hard, could crack plastic).
- Remove masking tape.


Brake light, high level, 5-door models












Bulb and light casing, replacement

- Remove cover by bending down the edge of the cover with a screwdriver so that the catches release. Remove reflector by pressing in top and pulling straight out.
- Replace bulb.
- Release light casing by bending spring clips down and undoing connector. Replace light casing and anything else which needs it.
- Reassemble in reverse order.
Test.
