Severe Engine Shudder After Engine Braking

SEVERE ENGINE SHUDDER AFTER ENGINE BRAKING

Preconditions
^ DTCs absent.
^ Engine is hot.
^ Fault is permanent.





Check the Fuel Pump Relay's Two-Stage Function
^ Ignition OFF.
^ Remove fuse no. 2.
^ Connect an amp meter between fuse no. 2's tabs in the fuse-holder.
^ START the engine
^ Rev. the engine; at speeds above 3000 rpm, current consumption should be higher than at speeds below 3000 rpm.

If Current consumption increases at 3000 rpm:
- Check the throttle housing.
If Current consumption does not increase at 3000 rpm:
- Check at full-speed.





Checking the Throttle Housing
^ Slight engine shudder is normal during engine braking
^ However, if the engine shudders severely when the throttle is opened and closed, the Throttle Body must be adjusted.
