Replacement of Components - Engine Removed




Special Tools:
- Stand tool No. 999 2520, or equivalent
- Lifting Yoke tool No. 999 2810, or equivalent
- Gear Sector tool No. 999 5112, or equivalent
- Fixture tool No. 999 5297, or equivalent
- Lifting Yoke tool No. 999 5428, or equivalent
- Mounting tool No. 999 5429, or equivalent

Removal Of Components From Engine Block:
1. Remove transmission:
Automatic Transmission:
- Undo torque converter screws.
All Transmissions:
- Undo 12 transmission screws from engine where the flywheel housing is mounted to the engine block.

WARNING: When removing transmission use jack tool No. 999 5972 with transmission fixture tool No. 999 5463, or equivalents, to support it and prevent damage.





2. Mount engine on stand:
- Use stand tool No. 999 2520, or equivalent and fixture tool No. 999 5297, or equivalents.
- Remove lifting tools.
- Install the right number of washers to compensate transmission guide pins.





3. Refer to the illustration for transfer of rear components.





4. Refer to the illustration for transfer of exhaust side components.





5. Refer to the illustration for transfer of intake side components.





6. Install drive plate/flywheel:
- Lift engine from stand, use mounting tool No. 999 5429 and lifting yokes tool No. 999 2810, or tool No. 999 5428, or equivalents.
- Use gear sector tool No. 999 5112, or equivalent.
- Use new screws and thread locking compound.
- Tighten in two stages:
1st stage: Tighten to 45 Nm (33 ft lb)
2nd stage: Angle tighten 50°





7. Install transmission:
Automatic Transmission:
- Tighten torque converter to 50 Nm (37 ft lb)
Manual Transmission:
- Tighten clutch driven plate and pressure plate to 30 Nm (22 ft lb)

NOTE: Plug and cap openings of the old engine in the same way as the new engine.
