Floor/defroster shutter, replacement

Background:

This Service Bulletin describes the replacement of the floor/defroster shutter in the climate control system air distributor. This method has been developed to avoid the need to replace the air distributor assembly.

Replacing the floor/defroster shutter in the climate control unit air distributor





Removing the dashboard 1

Remove the dashboard according to Dashboard, replacement, Section 8(87) Climate control, 850 1992-.





Disconnecting the connectors 2

Disconnect the right-hand damper motor connector (1).
Remove the tie straps which hold the wire harnesses to the relay bracket and to the right-hand face of the climate control unit.
Disconnect the wire harness (2) from the blower fan motor. Move the wire harness to one side.
Remove connector (3) which is mounted horizontally to the blower motor.

Removing the brackets 3

Remove:

- bracket (4) above the power unit
- relay from the bracket (5)
- bracket (5)





Cutting the foam rubber 4

Cut through the foam rubber as illustrated.

Note!
Be careful when cutting foam seal. The seal is to be reused when unit is reassembled.





Removing the cover and the damper motor 5

Remove:

- the damper motor on the right-hand side (3 screws)
- the air distributor right cover (3 screws, 1 clip). Hold the shafts in place so that they are not removed with the cover.





Removing the shutter 6

Remove the shutter on the right-hand side. Hold the shaft in place so that it is not removed with the shutter.

Remove any debris 7

Remove any debris from the inside of the air distributor.

Installing components 8

Install in reverse order ensuring fit and function of components.

Adjusting the air shutters 9

Adjust the zero position for the air shutters according to Self-adjustment of damper motor limit positions (section BH), Section 8(87), Climate control, 850 1992-. Or VADIS.

Function test 10

Check the function. Enter radio code.
