Engine: Testing and Inspection

1. Disconnect timing pick-up connector.
2. Remove ignition wiring cover.
3. Lock throttle in fully open position.
4. Remove spark plugs and connect starter switch (part No. 1158263, or equivalent) between alternator positive terminal and service socket of control unit box.
5. Using compression gauge tool No. 9689, or equivalent, and extension sleeve (part No. 1158540, or equivalent), measure compression in all cylinders.
6. Compression pressure should be 156-185 psi with engine hot.
On all models, the maximum difference between cylinder compression pressures should be 28 psi.
